Thank you to all our buyers at the 2007 Virginia Bred Ewe Sale to be held on Saturday, October 27th at 1:00 pm at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds. We had a wonderful sale and appreciate the continued support of so many of our past buyers!!

Well... it's been a while since our web site was really updated through and through. Life has been busy with the kids and our new thriving business marketing frozen lamb through local farmers markets.

The past two years have been a whirl wind as we try to find balance between all of our enterprises. Although our life is full of activities we can't resist... livestock judging, cheerleading, soccer, ag marketing, and farmers markets... raising top quality show lambs will always be our first love.

So for all of you who have so loyally visited and continue to ask for new and updated information... let's catch up.

Virginia State Fair

10.8.07

I believe the 2007 Virginia State Fair had to be one of the hottest in history! When the smog had finally cleared and the sweat wiped away... chalk this up to another great year and an awesome group of both sheep and kids! Competition has never been fercer and friendships never stronger.

Once again, Cornerstone lambs held their own. With few exceptions, we were determined to show only lambs we bred and raised. (We showed a Dorset wether bred by Eric Stogdale as well as a commercial ewe that we will be keeping from the Ellerbrocks.)

Given the trouble we have had this year getting our sheep back on track after a bad round of coccidia in the early spring, we are very happy with how our lambs performed. Most all of our lambs placed in the top five, competing against lambs from many well known national breeders.

Be sure to check out pictures of the lambs we exhibited at the 2007 Virginia State Fair in our Photo Gallery.

Keota

8.21.07

The last of the rams have been turned out with the mature ewes. After hours of discussion, we have decided to breed a majority of our ewes back to the Sickels 63 buck. We really liked what we saw in his young lambs last year and feel they never reached their full potential due to coccidia. While visiting Indiana last year, Corey had the opportunity to handle the sire of our ram, an Ultra son, that Duane purchased from Hancock and believes he is one of the stoutest rams he's ever seen. We can't wait for next spring's lambs!

A smaller group of ewes are being exposed to Keota. We sold Keota this past spring, but lucked out and were able to breed a few early ewes to him before he left. We look for his lambs to be some of the largest racked sheep in the barn next spring. He can definitely pop a top!

Clarke County Fair

8.18.07

Is it possible to attend anything more fun than one's county fair!?! What a week! Once again the kids were over involved showing animals in just about every barn. Kayla exhibited the Champion British Cross and the Reserve Champion Continental Cross calves as well as the Reserve Champion Bred & Owned Lamb. In addition we had 4 class winners in the lamb show.

We'd also like to congratulate our youngest son, Brady, for winning the Overall Round Robin Junior Showmanship Division at the 2007 Clarke County Fair.

Lamb Pictures

2.16.07

We are in the heart of lambing season and our lambs have never looked better. 63, Scooby, Chaos, and Powerstroke each have outstanding lambs in our barn. check back for photos the end of March.

We will once again be offering ALL lambs private treaty off the farm. Those looking for long docked lamb please contact us as soon as possible to place orders.

Virginia State Fair

10.16.06

They are finally here!

Be sure to check out pictures of our lambs from both the 2006 Virginia State Fair and the 2006 Clarke County Fair in our 2006 Photo Gallery!

All of the lambs in the photos with the exception of the Dorset were bred by Cornerstone Club Lambs.

Watch the web site for pictures and pedigree on our new ram, 63! Purchased from Sickels Club Lambs of Winchester, Indiana, sired by a Hancock Ultra son, out of a Nichols 44 daughter. He may not have won the show at the 2006 Eastern Stud, but he sure got everyone's attention!

This ram is super long sided, big hipped, with a massive lower leg. It hasn't been since Mac Daddy and Virginia Ice that we have had a ram with this much mass AND muscle expression.

Powerstroke

1.19.06

PowerstrokeWith more and more Topline daughters making the keeper pen, it was inevitable that we would need another Southdown ram. We've been looking for two years for a ram that could equal the rack, muscle, and touch of Topline and prove to be a true wether sire.

We'd like to thank Gail Cole for entering this super thick ram in the 2005 National Southdown Sale. It is no wonder why this ram lamb was named the Reserve National Champion Southdown Ram. Powerstroke is expressively muscled with a super long hindsaddle, big rack, and square hip. He was undoubtable the thickest ram at the sale.

We've never been this excited to see our Southdown lambs! Watch for lamb photos online in February and March!

10.4.05

What an awesome 2005 Virginia State Fair! Great fun, great kids, and great competition! Never have we seen the classes so deep or so many good lambs together in one show in this part of the country.

With more and more breeders/showers going out of state to purchase club lambs from top name breeders, we are determined more than ever to breed our own. With a few exceptions (i.e. Dorsets, Brockles, and an occassional ewe lamb that is destined to be part of our flock) we take great pride in showing only lambs that we have raised.

Although we didn't come home with the purple... this weekend was a huge success for Cornerstone Club Lambs! The girls showed 12 lambs total. 11 out of 12 of our lambs placed third or higher, with one fourth place lamb. I'm not sure any other breeder in our state can boast such a record. And we couldn't be more thrilled with how our lambs measured up to very stiff competition.

Champion Heavy Weight

8.23.05

We'd like to thank everyone who has purchased show lambs from us this past year. We've been out to several shows and county fairs and are very pleased with the job that has been done feeding and preparing the lambs. Whether you are listed below or not, you should be proud of the job you've done! We are!!

Congratulations to all those showing Cornerstone bred lambs! From the reports we're starting to receive, it sounds like a great year!

Highlights can be found our our Show Winners Page.

Chaos

8.19.05

Congratulations to our daughter Kayla for winning the Overall Round Robin Senior Showmanship Division at the 2005 Clarke County Fair.

You've worked exceptionally hard this year and we are very proud of you!

7.25.05

Thanks to everyone who has purchased individual sheep and groups of ewes from us over the past six months. During this time, we have reduced our ewe flock in half. With the strength we currently see in our younger ewes we felt that now was the time to share many of our older, high performing ewes with others.

The remaining 35 black face ewes not only represent some of the best we have bred, they have proven themselves worthy in the lambing jugs. We currently have 20 of the 35 pictured on our site!

Our committment continues to be on selling only easy doing, problem free genetics that consistently perform in the showring! We were very excited about our 2005 lamb crop... and can hardly wait for 2006!

We have never been happier with the consistency and quality now in our flock. Give us a call, we'd love to show you why we have never been more excited about the future!

Jackpot Show

7.2.05

The 2005 Clarke County Invitational Lamb & Goat Show was another success! We had over 60 4-Hers in attendance representing 10 counties! Everyone should be proud of the exhibits they brought! What a line-up!!

Cornerstone Club Lambs had a good day as well. Together Kayla and Jordan took home 2 First, 3 Seconds, 3 Thirds, and 2 Fourths. Considering the quality of this year's show.... we couldn't be prouder!

Sampson

4.30.05

Introducing Sampson the newest addition to our stud buck lineup. Yep, he's a fullblood Boer!

Since Jordan has just started showing and she seems to be passionate about goats.... It looks like we are going into the goat business. Our goal is to have 6-10 high quality does that produce competitive show goats.

Kids will be for sale privately and through the 2006 Eastern Elite Club Lamb, Pig, & Goat Sale April 22, 2006.
