Marcantel

10.12.09

We'd like to thank Kenny Unger for allowing us to breed our METEOR and ASTEROID sired ewe lambs to his new MARCANTEL SON. MARCANTEL is owned by Ellerbrocks and the full brother to the Grand Champion Lamb at the 2005 LSU Livestock Show. The dam of the ram we are leasing is sired by BLUE CABANISS, the same breeding as the dam of METEOR.

We can't wait for these lambs to hit the ground! View his full pedigree on the Stud Rams Page. Just Updated!

Virginia State Fair

10.6.09

I believe the 2009 Virginia State Fair had to be one of the strongest in history! Chalk this up to another great year and an awesome group of both sheep and kids! Competition has never been fercer and friendships never stronger.

Once again, Cornerstone lambs held their own. With no exceptions, we were determined to show only lambs we bred and raised.

We are very happy with how our lambs performed. Most all of them placed in the top five, competing against lambs from many well known national breeders.

Be sure to check out pictures of the Cornerstone bred show lambs exhibited at the 2009 Virginia State Fair in our Photo Gallery. Just Updated!

Virginia Lamb

10.6.09

Once again, our web site has taken it on the chin and I have been lapse in getting it updated regularly. Life has been busy with the kids and our new thriving business marketing frozen lamb through local farmers markets.

The past three years have been a whirl wind as we try to find balance between all of our enterprises. Although our life is full of activities raising top quality show lambs will always be our first love.

But here is our guarantee... Because we have created such a strong market for lamb meat, you can be assured that only our VERY BEST lambs are sold as show lambs. Contact us early if you are interested as our top end lambs go fast!

Powerstroke

9.28.09

This summer we lost our Gail Cole Reserve National Champion Southdown Ram, POWERSTROKE. This late in the season we were a bit concerned if we could find a ram to live up to our high expectations in making market babies.

Well as luck would have it we found one right in our own back yard. We'd like to thank the Ludwig family for allowing us to lease a stout made Scramlin bred yearling. We look for him to bring a bit more extension through the front end in our Southdown weathers while maintaining their racks, hips, and overall muscle dimension.

Watch for lamb photos online in February and March!

Pretty Caesar

8.28.09

The last of the mature ewes have been turned out with the rams. We have been very happy with our 2009 lambs and will be using both Meteor and Asteroid heavy again this year.

METEOR is our Ellerbrock (PRETTY CAESAR x BLUE CABANISS) ram and ASTEROID is our Balsley (double bred EDGE grandson) ram. Check out their full pedigrees on the Stud Rams Page. Just Updated!
Clarke County Fair

8.18.09

Is it possible to attend anything more fun than one's county fair!?! What a week! Once again the kids were over involved showing animals in just about every barn.

Jordan exhibited the Grand Champion Jersey Female, Champion Commercial Ewe & Supreme Champion Ewe, and Champion Heavy Weight Market Hog & Champion Heavy Weight Gilt. Brady exhibited a class winning Commercial Heifer, Champion Southdown Market Lamb & Reserve Champion Bred & Owned Market Lamb, Reserve Champion Commercial Ewe, and Reserve Champion Bred & Owned Market Goat.

We'd also like to congratulate our youngest son, Brady, for winning the Overall Round Robin Intermediate Showmanship Division at the 2009 Clarke County Fair.
