flock dynamicsfoundation ewes

As time goes on and ewes age out or pass away, there are still those that have left such an impact on our flock that they deserve to continue to get credit. Below are ewes that are no longer in our flock yet we just can't erase them from our web site or our hearts.

9503

CORNERSTONE 9503

9503 is one of those ewes everyone strives and hopes for and has definitely proven to be the matriarch of our flock. She consistently out produced herself every year regardless of what buck we mated her to. She was a long hindsaddled, clean fronted, attractive profiling ewe that passes only her best onto her daughters.

9503 is an F1 Cross between Gus, the Sickels ram we purchased years ago, and our original purebred breeding stock. We lost this great ewe in an accident the summer of 2003. She will be missed!

9503 is the dam to Oreo (1998), Cheerio (1999) and Cornerstone 0108 (2001), and Cornerstone 214 (2002).

OREO

Oreo was one of Brett's market lambs in 1998. Although she always stood at the top of the class, she reached her full potential when she matured into one of our top brood ewes.

Oreo has proven herself over and over again. She is the dam of the:
  • 2000 Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb, Clarke County Fair
  • 2001 Grand Champion Feeder Lamb, Clarke Co Regional Jackpot Show
  • 2001 Grand Champion Market Lamb, Clarke County Fair
  • 2002 Grand Champion Market Lamb, Clarke County Fair
  • 2003 Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb, Clarke County Fair
  • 2004 High Selling Ewe at the VA Bred Ewe Sale
We lost Oreo during the 2005 lambing season. We currently have a Scooby daughter of Oreo's in the flock. We are really excited about this young female... she is the first daughter to look so much like Oreo... maybe better!

CHEERIO

CHEERIO

Cheerio was the best profiling ewes we've ever owned. She put together a pedigree steep in performance with muscle, size, length, and style. In our minds she pictures as the ideal ewe. She is chisel fronted without giving up performance or thickness.

Cheerio got deathly sick in 2004 and we were prepared to winter her over without breeding her... unfortunately she had other ideas. We got one last ewe lamb out of her in 2005 before she passed away.

She is the dam of the:
  • 2000 First Place Suffolk Ewe Lamb in the Virginia Bred Ewe Sale
  • 2001 Lead Wether in the Eastern Elite Club Lamb Sale
  • 2003 Keeper Ram Lamb sired by Phat Cat, Hummer
  • 2003 Keeper Ewe Lamb sired by Phat Cat
  • 2004 Top Keeper Ewe Lamb sired by Scooby
  • 2004 Class Winning Commercial Ewe at the Clarke County Fair
  • 2005 Top Keeper Ewe Lamb sired by Stunner
