Calendar of Virginia Sheep Events

Did you know... the state of Virginia has approximately 1,700 farms raising 57,000 head of sheep. That makes our average size flock a little over 33 ewes. In 1999, we produced 50,000 market lambs, ranking 21st in sheep income in the United States and 24th in total number of head.

Although the Virginia sheep industry has been on the decline over the past several years, Virginia still boasts several top notch educational events as well as purebred shows and sales.
